What is a canker sore?

It is a small, painful ulcer (white or yellow sore surrounded by a bright red area) on the inside of the cheek or on the tongue.

How long do canker sores last?

If untreated, they may last about one to two weeks.

Are canker sores contagious?

No.

What are the symptoms of canker sores?
  • Small ulcers on the tongue or inside of cheek, possibly in clusters
  • Pain in the affected area, especially when exposed to spicy or acidic foods or drinks
How do I treat canker sores?
